Seventy years is a spectacular milestone for the school—it has been over six years since my graduation, yet 70 years of standing firm is the perfect time for reminiscence.

Looking back, the schools and teachers had been delightfully supportive of my interests and strengths. I recall being increasingly interested in music, and I was given multiple opportunities to participate in competitions where I could demonstrate my skill and sing in front of a crowd for the first time in my life during my graduation ceremony. I was also a book-obsessed kid, constantly engrossing myself in stories I found. I’m glad teachers supported me in writing my own stories as it mightily boosted my confidence to write my video game lore as I grew up.

I am most certainly grateful for every teacher who has taken part in my education, as I was not the most obedient child. As a generally hyperactive child, my teachers have taught me to behave myself and take responsibility for my tasks. It was definitely no easy feat for my teachers to continue the class while I was crawling through desks and looking for one specific missing item. Still, as I grew, I took their advice to heart and am no longer the scraggy kid with dirt caking my knees. It is a shame that I cannot correctly credit every teacher I’ve met here. Still, each of them that taught me has made at least a small impact on my life. I am now a determined student ready to take my next steps in my foundation year in Newcastle College.
